Zones 6-9

Flame Thrower® will soon be one of the most photographed trees in your garden. Before the leaves emerge, purple-red flowers fill the branches giving a great blooming display. In the spring the heart-shaped leaves start out as deep maroon red, maturing to yellow, then to green by late May. These colors heat up again with the summer flush of bright red, maturing to shades of orange, peach, apricot, and yellow over the green older growth. This is perhaps the most colorful redbud to date! The colors seem unreal causing Flame Thrower® to immediately become a hit with your neighbors. We expect Flame Thrower® to reach 12-15 ft in height and width in 10 years. Give plenty of sun for Flame Thrower® to display the most dynamic leaf colors.

Flame Thrower® was bred and developed by Dennis Werner at the JC Raulston Arboretum.

Our 3 gallons are about 2.5-3 ft. Get one of the top hit plants of the year before it is gone!

Flame Thrower® makes an excellent companion plant with Golden Falls®.

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of woody ornamentals, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the woody ornamentals you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.

Most beautiful tree ever seen !!

I got my Flame Thrower redbud from Mr Maple 4 years ago. It was a small tree in size as it was just grafted. Garden centers didn't have/offer them yet and they were hard to get. The Mr Maple Flame Thrower that I got grew as a weeping tree. As the garden centers started getting more and more of them, they were all horizontal branches and pruned at trunk mid down and grown in tree form. Although beautiful, they just don't compare to the weeping form of mine. Image a Ruby Falls version in shape and fullness; and the weeping shape shows so much more color. This picture is from last year, and this year's picture is even bigger and fuller and so full of color. My neighbors keep asking me about this tree, and one said the color is so amazing it can be seen all the way down from the end of the street. Thank you Mr Maple!!! I can say, I have probably one of the most beautiful trees around.
